HobbiesFoto FunFoto Fun members enjoy capturing the beauty of nature, historical locations, and the arts with photography. Monthly outings are planned to photographically interesting places. Dates for these trips vary. Members may use any type of image capturing device, including phones and tablets. All that is required is a sense of adventure and a camera! Jewish Culture & ConversationPlease join us for lighthearted discussion, connection, and activities relating to Jewish culture (A Non-Religious & NonPolitical Group Open to All). Topics/meetings may include: Jewish cooking, expressions, movies, humor, books, podcasts, visiting exhibits/museums, and a holiday event. Needlework GroupThe needlework group meets the first and third Thursdays of every month at a member's home from 9:30-11:30. Any project using needles is accepted. An email with details will be sent the week before the meeting. Recollections OneRecollections One members explore and share events that have shaped our lives. We meet at 2 PM on the second Monday of the month in the home of the host member. The host selects the topic for the month and provides snacks for the meeting. Topics over the past year have included: A Favorite House, Moving, First Hero or Heroine, Yummy or Yucky, Rescued, A Disaster that Wasn’t, and A Happy Place. Everyone writes 2 to 3 pages on the topic in whatever way speaks to them. We read our writings to the group, along with laughter, tears, love, and food. Thoughts and memories shared are held in confidence by supportive friends--no critiquing of writing style, just a wonderful way to renew interest in writing. First time attendees can just come and listen – no writing required. Recollections TwoRecollections Two meets on the second Wednesday of each month at 1:00 pm. We share short pieces that we have written from our own experiences or insights. The topic is selected by group consensus from prior meetings. Our members come to the meeting with a 1 to 3-page written response. A haiku is also welcomed. We each interpret the topic in whatever way we chose and read them to our group. These musings can be a from childhood, adolescence, and adulthood and allow members to share of themselves with others in a safe environment. All our recollections are held in confidence. The focus is not on writing style and no grading will occur! There is no critiquing of the writing, only sharing with friends. New members are not required to write a paper the first time they visit. |
